Hello Kitty Returns to Macy’s Parade for 100th Anniversary
To mark the centennial of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Sanrio is launching a new giant character balloon featuring Hello Kitty clutching a red apple. The design serves as a tribute to the "Big Apple," anchoring a broader partnership that brings the iconic character back to the historic holiday procession.

The collaboration extends beyond the parade route with a 23-piece capsule collection available at Macy’s. According to Sanrio Chief Brand Officer Jill Koch, the balloon design honors the milestone celebration while offering fans a tangible piece of the event. The merchandise lineup includes women’s and girl’s apparel, Loungefly accessories, and seasonal decor from Blue Sky Clayworks, all featuring exclusive balloon-style artwork.
Shoppers can access the full collection online immediately, with an in-store launch scheduled for October 15 at the Macy’s Herald Square flagship in New York. The 100th parade is set to broadcast on November 26 at 8:30 a.m. across NBC and Peacock. Will Coss, executive producer of the event, noted that the collaboration aims to merge the long-standing tradition of the march with the modern appeal of the Sanrio brand.
