Apple Music shifts to monochrome in latest iOS 27.2 beta

The vibrant red icon synonymous with Apple Music is fading into a stark, high-contrast monochrome design. According to reports from 9to5Mac, the latest iOS 27.2 beta replaces the traditional color palette with a minimalist black-and-white aesthetic, signaling a broader visual shift across the platform's interface.

The redesign extends beyond the home screen icon, which now features a slightly sharper angle on the eighth note. In light mode, the icon displays a black note on a white background, while dark mode inverts this scheme. This aesthetic adjustment mirrors branding recently spotted on the Apple Music Hall website, suggesting a coordinated update to the service's visual identity.

Changes are visible throughout the app's ecosystem. Widgets have transitioned to black backgrounds, and the interface now utilizes blue accents in the tab bar to highlight active sections. While the removal of color marks a departure from the iconic red branding, users who prefer the original look may find a workaround: the iOS tinted home screen feature could allow them to manually restore a red-toned appearance if this monochrome version reaches the public release.
