Horizon Air Pilots to Picket in Boise Over Stalled Contract Talks
Nearly 650 pilots at Horizon Air are set to gather at the Boise Airport on Wednesday, October 14, to protest what they describe as years of obstructionist bargaining. Represented by Teamsters Local 1224, the pilots are demanding an end to delays and a contract that addresses stagnant wages and staffing shortages.

The informational picket, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. along the airport’s lower roadway, marks a escalation in a four-year struggle for a collective bargaining agreement. Pilots argue that despite performing a volume of flying comparable to sister carrier Alaska Airlines, their compensation remains significantly below current industry standards. The union attributes this gap to the airline's persistent refusal to negotiate terms that reflect modern operational realities.
Beyond pay, the union cites critical concerns regarding training infrastructure and persistent staffing vulnerabilities within the Alaska Air Group subsidiary. Members of the Association of Flight Attendants are expected to join the Teamsters on the picket line, signaling broader labor dissatisfaction across the carrier's flight crews. The protest serves as a public challenge to management, which the union accuses of prioritizing corporate interests over the stability of its pilot workforce.
