Baidu Faces Securities Class Action Over AI Revenue Disclosure
A class action lawsuit has been filed against Baidu, Inc. following allegations that the company misled investors regarding its AI business growth. The complaint claims Baidu overstated the ability of its AI segment to offset losses within its legacy search advertising franchise, leading to a significant stock price decline.

The litigation centers on Baidu securities purchased between November 18, 2025, and August 17, 2026. According to the complaint, management repeatedly highlighted AI revenue growth as a buffer against the deteriorating performance of its online marketing services. However, the lawsuit contends that these internal projections were not properly audited and failed to accurately reflect the reality that total revenue was likely to decline despite the company's public narrative.
Financial data from the second quarter of 2026 exposed the underlying weaknesses, as the AI-powered business segment dropped 8% quarter over quarter. Specifically, the AI Cloud Infrastructure unit saw a 17% decline, while the legacy search business fell 23% year over year. These disclosures triggered a sharp reaction in the market on August 18, 2026, when Baidu’s American Depositary Shares plummeted 12.73%, or $13.25 per share, on heavy trading volume. Investors seeking to serve as lead plaintiff in the case against the company must file their applications by November 13, 2026.
