Lilly reports new multidimensional remission data for Omvoh in IBD

Patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease treated with Eli Lilly’s Omvoh achieved comprehensive disease control and corticosteroid-free remission at one year, according to new data from the LUCENT and VIVID clinical programs. These results demonstrate that patients can attain multiple, simultaneous treatment goals even after previous biologic failure.

The findings, set for presentation at United European Gastroenterology Week 2026, suggest a shift in how medical success is measured for inflammatory bowel disease. In the LUCENT-2 study, 27.7% of patients with ulcerative colitis reached comprehensive disease control—a composite target requiring symptomatic, endoscopic, and histologic remission alongside biomarker normalization and the cessation of steroid use. For Crohn's disease patients in the VIVID-1 trial, 20.4% achieved corticosteroid-free deep remission.

Notably, these outcomes persisted in populations with prior biologic failure, a group that typically presents significant therapeutic hurdles. Patients reaching these benchmarks were also more likely to report improvements in daily life, as measured by the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire. Stefan Schreiber of University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein noted that these endpoints address the complexity of IBD more effectively than single-measure assessments, supporting a transition toward more holistic, patient-centered care. Lilly continues to investigate combination therapies, including studies testing mirikizumab alongside incretin-based treatments and novel monoclonal antibodies.
