Arduino Doubles Memory for UNO Q Board
Three months after Qualcomm’s acquisition of the company, the Arduino UNO Q has received a stealthy hardware refresh. The board, which pairs the Dragonwing QRB2210 processor with expanded memory, hits the market today as the company pivots toward more resource-intensive edge computing applications for its flagship hardware.
The original configuration, which debuted with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, has been supplanted by a more robust model featuring 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. This shift in specifications brings the UNO Q closer to the requirements of modern industrial IoT projects that demand more headroom for local processing.
With these internal upgrades comes a change in the cost of entry. The manufacturer has increased the retail price from $44 to $59, reflecting the cost of the additional silicon. This adjustment marks the first significant change to the platform since its high-profile unveiling alongside Qualcomm’s strategic move to integrate Arduino into its broader ecosystem.
