Kohler Health Marks One Year of Dekoda With Innovation Accolades
One year after entering the home health market, Kohler’s Dekoda monitor has secured a suite of major design and technology awards. The device, which discreetly attaches to toilets to track biological markers, is currently the only consumer product capable of detecting microscopic blood in the bowl using optical spectroscopy.

Since its launch in Palo Alto, the device has landed on the TIME Best Inventions of 2026 list and received a Fast Company Innovation by Design award. By utilizing proprietary sensors tuned to identify hemoglobin, the system aims to make the bathroom a hub for proactive health monitoring. Nora Tophof, Managing Director of Kohler Health, notes that the technology captures subtle biological signals often invisible to the human eye, providing data that users can share with medical professionals to inform their wellness strategies.
Beyond basic tracking, the system integrates with a dedicated app to help users correlate daily habits with their health patterns. Kohler Health has partnered with the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation to support those managing gastrointestinal conditions, emphasizing the role of the device in long-term health management. Priced at $449, the unit prioritizes user privacy through AES-256 encryption and TLS 1.3 data transfer. Looking ahead, the company plans to roll out software updates that offer more granular health guidance, maintaining its focus on turning private bathroom rituals into actionable medical insights.
