Trump cancels plans for livestreamed execution of Nidal Hasan

Donald Trump confirmed the change on Truth Social, citing concerns from those who preferred to avoid witnessing the lethal event.

While the firing squad remains the chosen method for the former Army major, the administration has opted to keep the proceedings private. Trump noted that while he initially viewed a broadcast as a deterrent against terrorism, he yielded to the input of those who found the prospect of a televised execution objectionable. The event, which would have marked the first public execution in the United States since the 1930s, will now be limited to the immediate families of the 13 victims killed during the 2009 attack at the Texas military base, provided they choose to attend.
