The Trump Family Profiteering Report

While the Trump family has amassed more than $2.9 billion in cash and assets since the 2024 election, millions of Americans are grappling with the fallout of historic federal food aid cuts. A new analysis suggests the presidency has functioned as a private wealth-generation vehicle amid the dismantling of social safety nets.

The report, titled "Let Them Eat Cake: Cost of Corruption" and published by the Not Above the Law Coalition, links the windfall to a surge in cryptocurrency ventures and foreign influence. More than $2.4 billion of the family’s gains originated from the crypto sector, an industry that has benefited from the administration's deregulatory stance and the pardon of Binance founder Changpeng Zhao. Beyond digital assets, the coalition documented a $400 million luxury jet gifted by Qatar and significant capital inflows from United Arab Emirates interests into projects linked to the family.

Simultaneously, the administration enacted the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which reduced Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funding by nearly $187 billion, leaving 5.2 million people without assistance. Lisa Gilbert of Public Citizen described the disparity as a fundamental shift in governance, noting that the $2.9 billion collected by the family could have provided a full year of groceries for 1.3 million SNAP recipients. Further scrutiny by Democratic senators and recent investigative reporting indicate that this pattern extends to federal contracts and billionaire-backed projects, with companies supported by the president's sons securing billions in government funds. Sen. Bernie Sanders characterized the findings as a clear indication of a government prioritizing the billionaire class over public welfare.
