Steam Overhauls Achievement Tracking with Developer-Created Sets

Valve is rolling out a structural update to Steam achievements, allowing developers to categorize milestones into distinct sets rather than one monolithic list. This change aims to improve navigation for players, particularly in titles with extensive DLC or seasonal content, by grouping tasks and adding set-specific progress tracking.

When navigating a game library, players will now encounter grouped achievement clusters, each equipped with its own progress bar. Completing an entire set rewards the user with a specific trophy displayed on their profile, providing a clearer sense of accomplishment. Beyond permanent groupings, Valve has introduced support for seasonal sets, enabling developers to archive temporary challenges tied to holiday events or limited-time game modes.

This update coincides with a visual refresh of the Steam Achievements page, which now displays a comprehensive summary of total progress alongside individual set performance. The feature is currently live for a select group of titles, including Against the Storm, Age of Wonders 4, Euro Truck Simulator 2, and Team Fortress 2. These tools are available to all users through the latest Steam client beta, marking a significant shift in how the platform handles long-term player engagement.
