Bill Nelson General Engineering to Liquidate Fleet in Fresno Auction
After three decades of shaping California’s Central Valley infrastructure, Bill Nelson General Engineering Construction is shuttering operations. Owner Bill Nelson has tapped Bar None Auction to conduct a retirement sale on October 30, offloading a substantial fleet of late-model Caterpillar machinery and specialized utility equipment to the highest bidders.
The online auction, which begins closing at 8:30 a.m. Pacific Time, features a collection of equipment curated from Nelson’s long-standing municipal and public works portfolio. Key assets include a 2025 Caterpillar 420 loader backhoe, 2023 Caterpillar 325 hydraulic excavators, and 2023 Caterpillar 930M wheel loaders. Beyond heavy earth-moving machinery, the catalog lists Freightliner trucks, compaction units, and specialized Asphalt Zipper equipment alongside a comprehensive array of attachments and contractor support tools.
Prospective buyers can inspect the inventory firsthand at the company’s facility at 2741 E. Malaga Ave. in Fresno on October 28 and 29, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Jeff Huber, marketing director at Bar None Auction, noted that the sale offers a rare opportunity to acquire machines maintained by an established contractor for professional infrastructure projects. The event is expected to attract interest from utility firms, grading companies, and agricultural operations across the western United States looking to bolster their own fleets with well-maintained, late-model hardware.
