Google Chrome Launches Stricter HTTPS Security Warnings
Starting today, Google Chrome users will encounter explicit security warnings when navigating to public websites that lack encrypted HTTPS connections. This update marks a significant shift in browser policy, targeting unencrypted traffic to force a broader adoption of security standards across the open web for everyday internet users.

The browser now triggers a warning during the initial visit to any site operating without a secure connection. To balance security with user experience, Google has implemented a two-week grace period; once a user chooses to proceed to a site despite the alert, the warning remains suppressed for that specific domain for fourteen days. This rollout follows Google’s long-standing public commitment to prioritize encrypted web traffic, aiming to eliminate the risks associated with unencrypted data transmission.
