Maverick Capital Sees Intel Reaching Trillion-Dollar Valuation
Intel is poised to become the next trillion-dollar semiconductor giant, according to David Tykocinski, co-chief investment officer at Maverick Capital. Speaking at the recent Robin Hood investor conference, Tykocinski argued that the shifting landscape of artificial intelligence will soon favor traditional CPU manufacturers over current market leaders.

The thesis hinges on a transition from simple chatbot text generation to complex AI agents. While the initial wave of AI development relied heavily on Nvidia’s GPUs, Tykocinski suggests that agents—which decompose tasks into multiple components—demand significantly higher CPU capacity. This shift positions Intel and AMD to capture the next phase of sector-wide growth.
Maverick Capital, which manages $16 billion, holds a stake in Intel valued at over $500 million as of the second quarter, making it the firm's fourth-largest public holding. For the prediction to materialize, Intel must double its current $500 billion market capitalization. Tykocinski projected that the company could achieve more than 100% earnings growth over the coming two years. Despite trailing behind peers like Nvidia, TSMC, and Broadcom, Intel has already seen its stock price double this year, bolstered by a federal government purchase of a 10% stake in the chipmaker last year.
