Microsoft Adds Integrated Network Speed Testing to Windows 11

Right-clicking the system tray network icon in the latest Windows 11 preview will soon launch a browser-based speed test. This addition aims to replace the need for third-party websites by providing a native shortcut for checking Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and cellular connection performance directly from the taskbar.

The tool is part of a broader update currently reaching Windows 11 Insiders in the Release Preview Channel. The feature, which Microsoft first explored last year, simplifies the diagnostic process by integrating the connection check into the OS interface. Beyond network tools, the update introduces granular camera settings, allowing users to adjust pan and tilt on compatible hardware.

Additional refinements include a redesigned full-page widget settings menu and support for using .webp files as desktop wallpapers. These features are currently available in Windows 11 versions 24H2 (Build 26100) and 25H2 (Build 26200).
