Engineering a Giant: The Eight-Foot Razor Scooter

After seven years of fabrication, automotive engineer Matt Brown has completed a supersized homage to the classic Razor scooter. Stretching eight feet in length, the custom build replaces the familiar compact frame with a massive deck and high-torque electric motors housed directly inside its oversized, heavy-duty tires.

The project serves as a practical experiment in scale, utilizing an elevated set of handlebars to maintain human-centric ergonomics despite the vehicle's looming dimensions. While the scooter is fully functional and capable of carrying a rider, the geometry of its extended chassis creates a significant limitation: maneuverability. The turning radius is expansive, rendering tight corners a laborious process that demands careful navigation. Brown’s creation highlights the inherent friction between industrial-scale components and the nimble, folding design that originally defined the Razor brand.
