TikTok releases a standalone Shop app in four countries
The TikTok Shop app is listed in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines, but not in the UK or US app stores, according to social media consultant Matt Navarra. The limited rollout comes as TikTok offers a separate place to browse and buy products.
The app is available for iOS and Android, according to its listings. Features include personalized product recommendations, livestreams and short videos showing items, app-only deals, free shipping offers and first-order benefits. It also promotes secure payments, order tracking and 24/7 customer support.
The app does not appear to have launched widely. Navarra said it was listed in the four Southeast Asian markets but not in the UK or US App Store. TikTok did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The launch could signal a wider effort by TikTok to expand its online shopping business, though the company has not announced such a plan.
