NYT: China recruited Megaspeed executive in Nvidia spy effort
China’s Ministry of State Security recruited Megaspeed executive Alice Huang to gather information about U.S. AI chips and potentially press Nvidia to make its most advanced chips available to China, The New York Times reported. The account adds a new claim to the newspaper’s earlier report of a suspected Chinese plot involving Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.

Megaspeed is an Nvidia customer. Alice Huang also has relationships with senior figures in the AI chip industry, including executives at Gigabyte, according to the Times. Alice Huang and Jensen Huang are not related; the newspaper described their relationship as “close.”
The Times reported last week that Jensen Huang had been a target of a “Chinese spy plot” and outlined his relationship with Alice Huang. The allegation that China’s Ministry of State Security had recruited her was new in the latest report.
President Trump, who is friendly with Jensen Huang, was briefed last year about the relationship, the Times reported, but took no action. On Wednesday, three House committees asked Jensen Huang to attend a joint, closed-door briefing about his “interactions” with Alice Huang.
