Schlage Sense Pro Debuts UWB Hands-Free Locking
A proximity-based deadbolt arrives June 29th for $399, enabling homeowners to bypass keys and biometric scans entirely. The Schlage Sense Pro uses ultra wideband technology to detect a user's approach, automatically engaging the lock mechanism as a compatible device moves within range of the door.

First unveiled at CES 2025, the Sense Pro relies on proprietary Converge technology to track the speed and trajectory of an Apple Watch or iPhone. By utilizing Matter over Thread, the device integrates with Apple Home hubs, such as the HomePod or Apple TV 4K, to maintain low-latency connectivity. Beyond the Apple ecosystem, Schlage confirmed compatibility with Aliro, the emerging industry standard for smart access. Later this year, the lock will expand to support digital keys in Samsung Wallet and Google Wallet, enabling hands-free or NFC tap-to-unlock functionality for Android users.
The hardware includes integrated Wi-Fi for remote management via the Schlage Home or Apple Home applications. While the company estimates a six-month battery life under standard conditions, the unit features a USB-C port to provide emergency power should the internal batteries fail.
