Ideal Living Updates AquaTru Under Sink With Smart Leak Detection
Los Angeles-based Ideal Living has unveiled the second generation of its AquaTru Under Sink reverse osmosis system, aiming to blend high-capacity purification with modern smart features. The upgraded unit targets household safety through integrated leak sensors and simplified installation, while maintaining certification for removing 84 distinct water contaminants.

The new system retains the company’s signature 4-stage Ultra Reverse Osmosis technology, which is certified to eliminate persistent substances like PFAS, PFOAS, lead, and microplastics. Peter Spiegel, founder and co-CEO of Ideal Living, noted that the redesign prioritizes both performance and user experience by incorporating audible filter-change alerts and a one-touch reset button. The cabinet design has been streamlined to hide tubing, offering a more polished aesthetic compared to its predecessor.
Functionality improvements include flexible power options, allowing the device to run on either batteries or a USB-C connection. The updated installation process utilizes a color-coded, four-point system intended to minimize potential points of failure. Priced at $395—or $420 for the alkaline-capable version—the unit stores 1.7 gallons of purified water and is available in polished chrome, stainless steel, and matte black finishes.
