The 2026 landscape marks a departure from basic AI transcription and simplified content creation. Platforms are evolving into automated production studios capable of segmenting long-form recordings, generating metadata, and publishing targeted micro-videos independently. According to Jim Lundy, CEO and Lead Analyst at Aragon Research, video is no longer merely for human consumption; it functions as a queryable data source that trains AI agents and drives autonomous business workflows.

Organizations that continue to treat video as a siloed, departmental asset risk falling behind in operational efficiency. The report emphasizes that a centralized, unified platform is necessary to navigate this new era. Among the 14 providers evaluated for their role in this shift are Microsoft, Kaltura, Vimeo, Brightcove, Panopto, and IBM. These companies are currently competing to transform static archives into searchable, active fabrics that support both human workforces and the growing network of specialized AI agents.
