Gulf Winds Deploys AI Platform to Automate Drayage Dispatching

Drayage provider Gulf Winds International has launched an AI-driven Smart Dispatching platform in Seabrook, Texas, aiming to replace manual, reactive coordination with real-time network optimization. The tool continuously calculates driver and chassis availability to boost asset utilization and minimize empty miles across the company’s U.S. port operations.

The platform marks the beginning of the Gulf Winds Intelligent Logistics initiative, a strategic shift toward integrating automation and machine learning into the company’s daily workflow. By shifting from static planning to dynamic, data-backed decision-making, the system identifies opportunities to increase street turns and prioritize high-value moves without requiring additional fleet capacity.

According to Alysse Ligon, Director of Innovation, the technology acts as a force multiplier for the existing workforce. Rather than replacing staff, the system handles complex calculations in the background, allowing dispatchers to focus on driver support and customer-facing problem-solving. This visibility enables teams to identify service risks before they escalate, providing a more proactive approach to logistics management.

Chief Information Officer Michael Shepherd noted that the platform leverages two decades of internal drayage management expertise, extending the company’s existing infrastructure with modern optimization capabilities. As Gulf Winds expands across major U.S. markets from Houston to Baltimore, the platform serves as a scalable foundation for growth, allowing the firm to increase throughput and network density while maintaining consistent service levels.
