8849 Debuts TANK 5 Rugged Smartphone Featuring Integrated 2K Projector
Shenzhen-based manufacturer 8849 has unveiled the TANK 5, a flagship rugged smartphone that integrates a high-output 2K DLP projector capable of 220 lumens. Designed for field professionals and outdoor enthusiasts, the device swaps conventional mobile constraints for heavy-duty hardware, including a massive 17,600mAh battery and specialized night vision optics.
The device centers its utility around a built-in projection system featuring instant auto-focus and automatic keystone correction, allowing for immediate media playback or professional presentations in remote settings. Under the hood, the TANK 5 runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400e processor, paired with Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and up to 36GB of RAM. This hardware configuration is housed within a chassis supporting a 3K AMOLED display, which reaches a peak brightness of 3,000 nits to maintain visibility in direct sunlight.
Software and imaging capabilities round out the flagship specifications. The unit ships with Android 16 and includes a dual 50MP camera array, featuring a dedicated wide-angle night vision sensor for low-light environments.
