Cox Automotive Launches Browser Extension to Unify Dealership Software

Dealership employees juggling a fragmented stack of automotive software now have a bridge between their primary tools. Cox Automotive has released Navigator, a browser extension designed to weave together disparate platforms like vAuto, Xtime, and VinSolutions into a single, cohesive workflow to eliminate repetitive data entry.

The tool functions as an overlay for existing enterprise accounts, allowing users to jump between systems without re-authenticating or manually switching tabs. For instance, a staffer appraising a vehicle in vAuto can pull service history from Xtime or customer profiles from VinSolutions with a single click. The extension also extends to logistics and inventory management platforms, including Manheim, OVE, and Central Dispatch.

Justin Chapman, general manager at Withnell Automotive Group, reports that the integration allows staff to move between systems without the friction of duplicating entries. Bradley Sands, a service advisor at the same group, estimates the tool cuts routine task time by roughly 50%. By surfacing information based on a phone number or vehicle ID regardless of which tab is active, the extension aims to reclaim time lost to loading screens and manual navigation.

Security remains a primary focus for the rollout. The extension operates within a secure browser session and does not store dealership data locally, adhering to the company’s enterprise-grade standards. Navigator is currently available for download through the Google Chrome Web Store and Microsoft Edge Add-ons store, requiring only the standard access permissions already held by dealership employees.
