The mystery surrounding the T1 Phone deepens as the company’s long-term media relations firm, Poplar Group, abruptly ends its partnership with the venture. This departure leaves the controversial smartphone brand, which has struggled to fulfill preorders, without its primary channel for communicating with the media.
Poplar Group has represented Trump Mobile since at least June 2023, a period marked by the firm’s public insistence that the handsets were manufactured in America—a claim the company has since retracted. Chris Walker, a founding partner at Poplar Group, confirmed that his team is no longer assisting the brand. Walker previously attempted to expedite delivery of units for The Verge, yet those orders remain unfulfilled, mirroring the experience of many customers still waiting for their devices.
Following the device's quiet launch, Trump Mobile appears to be retreating from public scrutiny. While a few media outlets have received review units and isolated reports of deliveries have surfaced on platforms like Truth Social and X, the scale of the rollout remains opaque. It is unclear if Trump Mobile intends to retain a new PR firm or if the company plans to abandon external communications entirely now that the product has technically hit the market.
