David Holmes Takes Helm at Socket Mobile
After a twenty-six-year tenure under Kevin Mills, Socket Mobile has named David A. Holmes as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. The transition, effective June 12, 2026, marks a leadership shift for the Fremont-based data capture firm as it pivots toward new growth initiatives in mobile productivity.

Holmes steps into the top role following a five-year stint as the company's Chief Business Officer. During his tenure, he oversaw global business development and marketing, leveraging two decades of industry experience in mobile payments and Near-Field Communications. His background includes leadership positions at NXP, Identive Group, and the cybersecurity division of UL Solutions.
Chairman Charlie Bass cited Holmes’s deep familiarity with the company’s strategic initiatives as the primary driver behind the board's decision. For his part, Holmes plans to prioritize the expansion of the firm’s developer network and the delivery of specialized data capture solutions for sectors ranging from retail to manufacturing. Mills, who led the organization since March 2000, exits the firm as it continues to rely on its core business of integrating cordless scanners with third-party mobile applications.
