Insta360 Launches Luna Ultra 8K Gimbal Camera with Leica Optics

The Luna Ultra hardware centers on a primary 1-inch CMOS sensor paired with a secondary 1/1.3-inch telephoto sensor. To manage the high-resolution data, Insta360 implemented a triple-chip system where two processors are dedicated exclusively to imaging tasks, while the third handles general system functions. This architecture enables 10-bit I-Log recording with a dynamic range of approximately 14 stops, complemented by built-in Leica color profiles and cinematic filters.

Flexibility is a core design element, highlighted by a detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen. This component serves double duty as a remote control and a wireless microphone, capable of maintaining HD video transmission at distances up to 65 feet. The unit also features 47GB of internal storage and a battery rated for four hours of continuous operation, even with 3-axis stabilization and AI tracking active. Complementing the launch is the new Mic Pro wireless system, which offers 32-bit float internal recording and E-Ink display integration for professional audio workflows.
