Palmer Holland Partners with FerrinX to Launch NanoFerrin™ for Skincare

Precision fermentation is bridging the gap between biotechnology and cosmetics as Palmer Holland announces a distribution deal for NanoFerrin™. Developed by U.S.-based FerrinX, this bio-identical lactoferrin offers a sustainable, vegan alternative to animal-derived proteins, promising to address pigmentation, acne, and skin structure through a single, highly purified ingredient.

Lactoferrin, a glycoprotein historically sourced from dairy, has long been recognized for its role in immune defense and iron regulation. Traditional extraction methods previously hampered its use in mass-market cosmetics due to high costs and inconsistent supply chains. By utilizing precision fermentation, FerrinX creates a consistent, high-purity version of the protein that bypasses animal inputs entirely, making it suitable for modern, ethical beauty formulations.

The ingredient functions as a multifunctional powerhouse. It targets dark under-eye circles by sequestering free iron deposits and disrupts the metabolic pathways of acne-causing bacteria. Beyond these corrective actions, NanoFerrin™ stimulates the skin’s internal production of collagen and hyaluronic acid, shifting the focus from topical hydration to biological regeneration. Bret Horace, Vice President of Consumer & Life Sciences at Palmer Holland, noted that the partnership aligns with a growing industry demand for clinically grounded, biotechnology-enabled ingredients. With commercial production slated for later this year, the collaboration positions NanoFerrin™ as a standard-bearer for the next generation of scientifically rigorous skincare actives.
