Aflac and AAMWA enlist Raheem DeVaughn for wellness initiative
Grammy-nominated R&B artist Raheem DeVaughn is set to headline the Uplift Her wellness event in Columbus, Ohio, on June 24. The gathering, organized by the African American Male Wellness Agency and supported by Aflac, aims to boost community health through education, entertainment, and on-site cancer screenings.

The initiative targets a persistent gap in preventative care. Data from the 2025 Aflac Wellness Matters Survey indicates that 59% of Americans frequently avoid essential health screenings, while 94% have delayed recommended medical checkups. By combining musical performances with professional health guidance, organizers hope to make these critical conversations more accessible to the public.
The event at the Greater Columbus Convention Center features a fireside chat with actress Meagan Good, American Cancer Society executive Kimberly Jackson, and Dr. Pamela Gregory, the creator of the Uplift Her initiative. These sessions will focus on the necessity of early detection, which the American Cancer Society notes significantly improves five-year survival rates for various cancers. Aflac’s involvement aligns with its stated goal of increasing national cancer screening rates by 10% over the next decade, utilizing the event to move beyond traditional insurance messaging toward direct community engagement.
