Ornellaia Auction Raises $300,000 for Guggenheim Restoration Projects

A charity auction for the 18th edition of Ornellaia’s Vendemmia d'Artista has raised $300,000, with all proceeds earmarked for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. The funds will support critical conservation and restoration efforts for works featured in the upcoming exhibition, Guggenheim Pop: 1960 to Now, opening in New York this June.

Collectors from across the globe gathered online for the event, organized by Bonhams, to bid on unique lots designed by contemporary artist Marina Abramović. Her work serves as the creative interpretation for Ornellaia’s 2023 vintage, titled La Vitalità, which highlights the expressive force of the Bolgheri-grown grapes. The collection of auctioned items included the only Salmanazar bottle produced for this specific release.

Lamberto Frescobaldi, President of the Group, noted that the collaboration reinforces a shared commitment to making art accessible to future generations. The funds arrive at a pivotal time for the Guggenheim, as the museum prepares for its major exhibition running from June 2026 through January 2027. For Ornellaia, the project marks another chapter in an annual tradition that has partnered with prominent international artists since 2009 to turn vintage character into tangible artistic heritage.
