MIT Technology Review Sets Agenda for EmTech Future 2026
From September 29 to October 1, 2026, MIT Technology Review will host EmTech Future on the MIT campus and online. The event moves beyond the legacy of EmTech MIT to focus on the convergence of artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and energy systems as the primary drivers of societal and industrial change.

The conference program shifts the focus from siloed technological breakthroughs to the intersections where these fields collide. Curated by the publication’s editorial team, the agenda aims to guide industry leaders through the practical integration of these systems. Key sessions include an analysis of AI as essential infrastructure, the integration of intelligence into physical energy systems, and the broader compute shifts driven by quantum advancements. A dedicated session, 'A Day in the Life, 2031,' will project these developments onto human experience, covering shifts in mobility, health, and labor.
Brian Bryson, director of event content and experiences, noted that the most significant breakthroughs are increasingly found at the confluence of these disciplines. The event will feature insights from figures such as Microsoft’s chief scientist Jamie Teevan, CSAIL director Daniela Rus, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s Tammy Ma. To maintain a focus on high-level discussion, in-person attendance is capped at 400 participants. Registration for the event is currently open, with discounted pricing available through September 4, 2026.
