Cardiol Therapeutics Shareholders Confirm Board in Annual Vote
Shareholders of Cardiol Therapeutics backed the company’s management team during its annual general meeting held via live audio webcast on June 24. Investors approved all proposed resolutions, including the appointment of auditors and the reelection of the board of directors, signaling continued support for the firm's clinical development strategy.
The company, which focuses on anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic heart disease therapies, confirmed the reelection of eight directors to the board. The slate includes Dr. Guillermo Torre-Amione, David Elsley, Chris Waddick, Teri Loxam, Dr. Timothy Garnett, Jennifer Chao, Peter Pekos, and Colin Stott. All nominees received strong support, with approval percentages ranging from 96.24% to 99.19% of votes cast.
Beyond director elections, shareholders formally appointed BDO Canada LLP as the company’s auditors for the coming fiscal year. The board of directors maintains the authority to finalize the remuneration for the auditing firm. Cardiol Therapeutics is currently advancing its MAVERIC program, which evaluates its lead candidate, CardiolRx, for recurrent pericarditis, alongside ongoing research into inflammatory heart disease treatments like CRD-38.
