Central Glass Marks Eight Decades of South Shore Craftsmanship
Founded in a modest Brockton storefront during the 1946 postwar industrial boom, Central Glass Company celebrates its 80th anniversary this year. The firm has evolved from a local startup into a regional fixture, currently operating out of a 15,000-square-foot facility in West Bridgewater while remaining under family stewardship.

John Dale and Stanley Gordon established the business to serve the needs of a growing post-World War II economy, initially capitalizing on the region’s thriving shoe industry. The company moved to its current Walnut Street headquarters in 2017, a shift that marked the culmination of steady expansion across the South Shore. Today, the operation is managed by the fifth generation of the family, with Mark Dale, Sr. serving as CEO and President alongside Construction Manager Mark Dale, Jr.
The firm’s longevity is anchored by a staff whose average tenure spans more than two decades. This stability supports a diverse portfolio ranging from residential glass repair and custom shower installations to complex commercial contract glazing and emergency board-up services. By maintaining a modern fleet and integrating contemporary glass technologies, the company balances its historical roots with the demands of modern construction. Mark Dale, Sr. attributes the milestone to the persistent trust of the local community and the dedication of a workforce that has adapted to changing market requirements over the last eighty years.
