Burns arrives at the firm after a career spanning decades within the intelligence community, where she most recently served as the CIA’s Chief Operating Officer. Her background as an engineer and analyst specializing in foreign military capabilities offers Fuse a specialized perspective on the intersection of deep-tech development and government mission requirements. The company currently operates through its Fuse Federal Enterprise subsidiary, which provides radiation effects testing for defense and energy clients.

CEO JC Btaiche noted that the credibility of national defense systems relies heavily on the rigorous testing of components under extreme conditions. By integrating Burns into the board, the company aims to bridge the gap between commercial fusion energy research and the specific technical demands of the U.S. national security apparatus. Burns stated that her involvement stems from a desire to align technical excellence with critical mission objectives, supporting the company as it expands its testing footprint.
