Playground Global and Matter Venture Partners have joined the US$117 million NUS VC Programme, signaling a strategic push to bridge Singapore’s deep tech innovation with US market expertise. The collaboration integrates Singaporean firms into the Silicon Valley ecosystem, providing them with privileged access to technical intelligence and manufacturing networks. To anchor this effort, NUS Enterprise is launching a dedicated outpost at The Studio, Playground Global’s 70,000-square-foot facility in California. This hub offers founders access to specialized wet and dry laboratories, allowing startups to refine product-market fit against the rigorous demands of US-based competition.

For the National University of Singapore, the move is a critical component of its broader strategy to translate lab-based research into globally competitive businesses. By partnering with firms like Playground Global, which manages US$1.7 billion in assets, and Matter Venture Partners, known for their focus on "HardTech," NUS intends to move beyond simple capital injection. Instead, these ventures will receive the operational guidance necessary to navigate complex supply chains and international regulatory landscapes, effectively positioning Singapore as a primary node in the global technology supply chain.
