Dechra Opens Boston Global Headquarters with $60,000 Community Pledge

Dechra, a global veterinary specialty firm, officially launched its new global headquarters in Boston’s Seaport District today. To mark the move into the city’s life sciences hub, the company committed $60,000 in local grants aimed at expanding animal-assisted therapy and community policing outreach programs.

The investment includes $50,000 designated for Pet Partners to scale its animal-assisted therapy network through increased volunteer training and certification. A further $10,000 will support the Boston Police Foundation, specifically bolstering the department’s Comfort Dog Program featuring Copper, a canine ambassador used to bridge gaps between officers and local residents.

CEO Jesper Nordengaard described the Boston facility as a collaboration hub rather than a traditional office, intended to foster connections between researchers, industry leaders, and local civic groups. The company’s entry into the region follows a recent public opinion survey commissioned by the firm. The study of 200 Boston residents found that 98% of participants believe animal interactions positively affect human health, while 93% view pets as a catalyst for stronger community ties. Governor Maura Healey welcomed the move, citing the company’s alignment with the state’s robust life sciences ecosystem and commitment to local social initiatives.
