Journal of Emergency Nursing hits record impact factor

The Journal of Emergency Nursing reached an all-time high impact factor of 3.2 in 2025, according to the latest data from Clarivate. This metric, which tracks how frequently academic articles are cited, confirms the publication’s growing influence among nurse scientists and researchers seeking high-quality, evidence-based practices for the field.

The new score represents a sharp increase from the 2.3 rating recorded in 2024. While the volume of citable content remained steady, the journal secured an additional 127 citations over the last year. Editor-in-Chief Anna Valdez noted that the surge in visibility provides a significant boost to the professional standing of the Emergency Nurses Association and its members.

For academics, high-impact publications are essential for tenure and career progression. Valdez believes this recognition will attract more top-tier research submissions, further cementing the journal's role in a specialty that only received formal designation in 2011. The journal continues to publish six times annually, offering both original research and continuing education credits for practitioners.
