Sandbox VR Expands Michigan Presence With New Ann Arbor Venue

Stepping into a 5,500-square-foot facility in downtown Ann Arbor, Sandbox VR launched its latest location on June 12, marking the company’s second expansion into Michigan. The venue aims to capture the city’s diverse demographic of students and local families through high-fidelity, full-body immersive gaming.

Developed in partnership with Digi Gameverse LLC, the site features four private VR rooms and a dedicated party space. Guests utilize headsets, motion sensors, and haptic vests to navigate digital environments, with the added capability of generating personalized highlight reels for social sharing. Franchise owner Anil Nichenametla noted that the city’s mix of academic and professional residents makes it an ideal environment for the brand’s expansion.

This opening follows a period of significant growth for the San Francisco-based company, which recently crossed the $300 million mark in lifetime sales. With over 85 global locations, the venture continues to scale its proprietary technology—originally built by developers from firms like EA and Sony—alongside licensed content such as Stranger Things: Catalyst. To mark the Ann Arbor debut, the company is offering a 30% discount on bookings through June 30.
