Seaspan Charts Decarbonization Course in 2025 Sustainability Review
Amid a landscape of shifting maritime regulations and geopolitical volatility, Seaspan Corporation has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, detailing a strategic pivot toward fleet efficiency and dual-fuel technology. The document underscores the company’s efforts to align its massive 247-vessel fleet with global environmental and safety benchmarks.
The report, covering the full 2025 calendar year, highlights a concentrated push to integrate data-driven reporting systems alongside vessel efficiency upgrades. By expanding its dual-fuel fleet, the Singapore-based operator aims to navigate increasing regulatory complexity while maintaining its core business model of long-term, fixed-rate leases. Chairman and CEO Bing Chen emphasized that these initiatives are designed to balance operational excellence with the firm’s commitment to the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles.
Beyond environmental metrics, the company reports a sharpened focus on internal governance and human capital. This includes expanded cybersecurity protocols and targeted support programs for female seafarers and emerging maritime professionals. With a total capacity reaching approximately 2.5 million TEU, Seaspan is positioning its safety culture and supply chain diligence as key competitive advantages for its customer base, which includes the world’s largest shipping lines.
