Magnolia Awards Honor Global Television Excellence in Shanghai

The 31st Shanghai TV Festival concluded its annual ceremony by recognizing top-tier storytelling from across the globe. Drawing over 1,000 entries from 60 countries, the event underscored the festival's rising influence in the international media landscape while awarding the year's most significant achievements in television production.

The night’s top honors saw "Swords into Plowshares" claim the title of Best TV Series, cementing its status as a standout production. Acting accolades were awarded to YU Hewei, recognized as Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in "Silent Honor," while YANG Zi secured the Best Actress in a Leading Role award for "Born to be Alive." The production "Silent Honor" also walked away with the prestigious Grand Prix, highlighting the high caliber of domestic storytelling.

International contributions were prominently featured throughout the evening. The US series "Task Season 1" was named Best Foreign TV Series, and Denmark's "Generations" took the prize for Best Foreign TV Film. Other notable wins included the UK’s "The Scarecrows' Wedding" for Best Animated Screenplay and the multinational documentary "Child of Dust," which earned the award for Best Documentary. Since its inception in 1986, the Shanghai TV Festival has evolved into a critical platform for cross-cultural exchange, with the Magnolia Awards remaining the industry benchmark for artistic innovation.
