Scientology Network Launches Drug Prevention Marathon
Nearly 600,000 lives are lost to drug use annually, a grim statistic driving the Scientology Network to dedicate its June 26 broadcast to global prevention efforts. The special marathon highlights the Foundation for a Drug-Free World, showcasing volunteers who distribute educational materials to youth and families across 198 nations.
The programming, which begins at 9:00 a.m. ET, focuses on the "Truth About Drugs" initiative. Viewers will see episodes of "Voices for Humanity," a series profiling grassroots activists like South African organizer Morgan Bruiners. A former addict, Bruiners now works to fill the information gap he believes leaves young people vulnerable to substance abuse. His efforts are part of a broader campaign that claims to have reached over one billion people through more than 90,000 community partnerships.
Beyond personal stories, the network plans to air public service announcements and a feature-length documentary covering the physical and social impacts of substances ranging from marijuana to synthetic opioids. Launched in 2018 by David Miscavige, the network operates from its Los Angeles media center. It currently broadcasts in 17 languages, aiming to highlight both the organization's social betterment projects and the work of independent filmmakers dedicated to community development.
