The company will cease preprint operations at its Richwood, Kentucky facility and shutter sheet and converting plants in Aurora, Illinois; Elk Grove, California; and Barrington, New Jersey. According to Tom Hamic, executive vice president of Packaging Solutions North America, the move is a difficult but essential step to focus investments where they generate the most value. International Paper plans to transition existing customers to alternative regional facilities to maintain supply chain continuity throughout the adjustment period. Affected staff will receive severance, benefits, and outplacement assistance as the company executes this strategic consolidation.
