STARTUP AUTOBAHN Marks Decade of Mobility Innovation at Expo 2026
Ten years after its inception, the Stuttgart-based innovation hub STARTUP AUTOBAHN gathers 1,500 industry leaders and startup founders at Im Wizemann on July 2. The event celebrates a decade of collaborative growth, showcasing how corporate giants and agile tech firms have successfully moved pilot projects into production.

Since its 2016 launch by Mercedes-Benz, Plug and Play, ARENA2036, and the University of Stuttgart, the platform has cultivated over 500 projects involving more than 350 startups. This year’s Expo 2026 serves as a high-stakes retrospective, featuring keynote sessions and innovation walks that track the evolution of automotive technology, from Artificial Intelligence and sensor intelligence to the rise of software-defined vehicles.
The speaker roster highlights the breadth of the ecosystem, including Porsche AG board member Joachim Scharnagl, VDA President Hildegard Müller, and Stuttgart Mayor Dr. Frank Nopper. Alongside expert roundtables, the event will culminate in the presentation of the Plug and Play Global Innovation Award and the debut of a special honor recognizing a legacy project with long-term industrial impact. By focusing on concrete, production-ready implementation rather than mere acceleration, the program continues to bridge the gap between visionary concepts and the realities of the global automotive market.
