Kavafyan brings extensive expertise from the wind and offshore energy sectors, having previously held senior roles at General Electric, Areva, and Aker, alongside a tenure as CEO of MHI Vestas Offshore Wind. His background includes serving on the boards of RenewableUK and chairing WindEurope. Currently, he operates as Managing Director of Kami Wind Consult and serves as a strategic advisor for Boston Energy Ltd.

Minesto board member Göran Linder emphasized that Kavafyan’s history of scaling businesses aligns with the company’s current growth trajectory, particularly as its tidal technology gains maturity in the Faroe Islands. For his part, Kavafyan views the integration of predictable tidal generation with energy storage as a pivotal shift for sustainable coastal power grids. The board anticipates that his appointment will specifically aid expansion efforts in the increasingly significant French tidal energy market.
