IsoEnergy Halts Exploration at Larocque East Due to Wildfires
A lightning-sparked wildfire in northern Saskatchewan has forced IsoEnergy to evacuate most field personnel from its Larocque East project. While the site faces no immediate direct threat, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency has mandated a suspension of exploration activities, citing dangerous conditions that may persist for up to a week.
The company has accounted for all employees and contractors, confirming no injuries occurred during the orderly withdrawal. To safeguard critical assets, three contractors remain on-site to operate pumps and sprinkler systems, providing a layer of protection for the camp and drill core storage. These individuals operate under strict safety protocols and are prepared for immediate evacuation should the fire's trajectory shift toward the facility.
Management expects this temporary pause will not derail the company's broader operational goals. Because the current 8,000-metre drill program is tracking well against its summer schedule, the week-long disruption is not anticipated to hinder the project's completion. Exploration will resume only once provincial authorities confirm that the area is safe for personnel to return.
