Simon Howard explores uncertainty in new Americana single Lost and Found
A restless double bass line anchors the latest release from Liverpool singer-songwriter Simon Howard, as he trades complex arrangements for the plainspoken vulnerability of his new track, Lost and Found. Produced by Robert Whiteley at Whitewood Studios, the song captures a pivotal moment of redirection in the artist’s career.

The track emerged from a period of personal instability, with Howard splitting his time between London and Liverpool while navigating professional stagnation. Rather than masking these difficulties, he channeled the uncertainty into a sparse, acoustic-driven composition. During the recording process, Howard and Whiteley deliberately stripped away traditional percussion, opting instead for a minimalist rhythmic pulse that emphasizes the lyrical content over studio polish.
This release follows a steady rise in the UK country and folk scene. After refining his sound on EPs like 2021’s Youths Ground and The CALL, Howard gained traction with BBC airplay for singles such as Not Like Superman and Trojan Horse. His profile grew further in 2025 when he secured a top-three finish among 400 entrants at The Long Road Festival’s Homegrown Talent Contest. Most recently, BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris spotlighted his work, naming him Horizon Artist of the Week in June.
