Group 1 Automotive Rebrands El Paso Dealership to Streamline National Identity
The former Shamaley Buick GMC in El Paso has officially completed its transition to Group 1 GMC Westside, marking a significant milestone in Group 1 Automotive’s nationwide effort to unify its dealership network under a single, recognizable brand identity while maintaining existing local staff and community operations.
Since February 7, 2025, the dealership at 955 Crockett Street has operated under the Group 1 banner. This rebranding effort, which encompasses a broader strategy for the Houston-based retailer, aims to provide customers with a consistent experience across its portfolio of 250 dealerships. Despite the name change, the company confirmed that ownership, staffing, and day-to-day operations remain unchanged, preserving the long-standing relationships with customers in El Paso, Las Cruces, and Alamogordo.
General Manager David Logston noted that while the signage has shifted, the dealership’s commitment to service, sales, and transparent pricing remains the priority. The transition allows the location to leverage the full technological and resource-heavy infrastructure of the parent company while continuing to function as a familiar neighborhood fixture. By aligning with the national brand, the dealership seeks to simplify the customer journey, making it easier for drivers across West Texas and New Mexico to identify and access the company’s standardized maintenance and vehicle support services.
