Forme Science Uses Prediction Markets to Hedge World Cup Promotions
Forme Science is betting on Team USA’s success by launching the first e-commerce promotion hedged through a regulated prediction market. Customers who shop before June 30 using the code TEAMUSA will receive a full refund on their wearable posture products if the team reaches the 2026 World Cup Final.

The campaign, developed alongside the promotions platform PlayAbly, allows the health technology brand to offer a high-stakes guarantee without assuming unlimited financial risk. By utilizing the Kalshi exchange, Forme Science can effectively hedge the cost of these potential payouts. This marks a shift in retail marketing, where brands move away from traditional discounts toward gamified experiences tied to real-world outcomes.
Seiji Liu, co-founder of Forme Science, noted that the move reflects a new era where prediction markets function as practical business infrastructure. Rather than simply absorbing the volatility of a sports-linked promotion, the company is using financial tools to protect its bottom line while engaging fans. Angelo Ferro, founder of PlayAbly, added that the collaboration aims to inject play into the shopping experience by capitalizing on cultural moments like the World Cup.
Nicolas Hull, director of business development at Kalshi, emphasized that this application demonstrates the utility of prediction markets for corporate risk management. As brands across retail and entertainment sectors seek more innovative ways to capture consumer attention, this model of event-driven, hedged marketing may signal a broader trend in how companies structure their promotional calendars.
