Valnetis a media holding company that operates as an investment company. The company was founded in 2012, and is headquartered in Montreal, Canada. Editor Nola Pfau, writing for WomenWriteAboutComics, characterized Valnet as a content farm business. Its freelance writers receive bonus payment once their stories go above a set number of pageviews.

Comic Book Resources layoffs

In May 2023, after meetings between Valnet executives and the editorial staff of the website Comic Book Resources, three quarters of the editorial staff were laid off.[5] This included long-tenured senior members of the editorial staff as well as editor-in-chief, Adam Swiderski.

Heidi MacDonald of The Beat said according to sources, Valnet had been paying Comic Book Resources writers decreasing amounts for more work prior to the layoffs.
