The Trump T1 Phone is a masterclass in tacky hardware
The Trump T1 Phone finally hit the market for $499, proving that while the device is physically real, it remains far from a serious product. After months of shifting release dates and questionable promotional materials, the gold-plated handset has arrived—and it feels every bit as cheap as its aesthetic suggests.

Wrapped in a curved slab of gaudy gold plastic, the T1 resembles the smartphone equivalent of knockoff wraparound sunglasses. The finish is aggressively tacky, offering a sticky, unpleasant friction that stands in stark contrast to the premium feel expected at this price point. Even fresh out of the box, the build quality falters; the review unit arrived with a noticeable scratch already etched into the top-right corner.
Beneath the shimmering exterior, the hardware choices feel trapped in the past. The device features an excessively curved waterfall display that feels dated by modern standards, housed in a chassis that is remarkably light but lacks any sense of structural integrity. While the phone does offer a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD card slot, and a near-stock Android experience, these functional inclusions are buried under a design that prioritizes a garish, artificial sheen over actual usability.
