FocalPoint and STMicroelectronics Launch Joint GNSS Automotive Solution
Cambridge-based software developer FocalPoint has finalized a commercial agreement with STMicroelectronics to integrate S-GNSS® Auto technology into Teseo hardware. This partnership aims to solve persistent positioning failures in urban canyons and signal-degraded environments, offering automakers a firmware-based upgrade to enhance the reliability of autonomous vehicle navigation systems.

The collaboration, which builds upon a development effort initiated in May 2025, transitions from experimental status to a full commercial offering. By combining FocalPoint’s patented Supercorrelation® technology with the Teseo V and Teseo VI architectures, the companies intend to provide sub-meter accuracy for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications.
Recent global trials indicate that the integrated solution consistently outperforms standard commercial-grade receivers in challenging conditions, such as tree-lined roads and high-density urban corridors. According to FocalPoint CEO Scott Pomerantz, the agreement addresses critical reliability gaps that have historically hindered automotive architects. STMicroelectronics, through General Manager Luca Celant, emphasized that the open nature of the Teseo platform allows for the deployment of innovations like Precise+® to push performance beyond traditional hardware limits. Evaluation kits are currently available for Tier 1 suppliers and OEMs looking to integrate the software directly into their next-generation vehicle platforms.
